SULPHUR BATH

In the ancient times here were baths of the Roman Empire. The only SULPHUR BATH was designed by the Italian architect Luigi Pietri and built with the participation of the population. The bath establishment has been done on base of the bath establishment project in Karlovy Vary. The initiator of the project was King Ferdinand.

The “SULPHUR BATH” was built in Kamenitza district. The construction began in 1912, iniciated  by the local Municipal Council. In order to realize the progect, the properties of some inhabitants have been alienated, and others have been donated to the municipality. The construction has been completed in the year 1921 and since then it works like municipal property. The name comes from the type of water.

The water has the composition of hydrocarbon-silicon-sodium fluoride-sulfate, with traces of calcium, magnesium and iron. The temperature is 88 ° C, which makes the bath hyper. The water in the bath is cooled to 38-39 ° C. The total mineralization is about 570 mg / liter and the pH is about 8.4. The presence of almost 9 mg / liter of fluoride makes water suitable for preventing caries in children and osteoporosis in adults. In addition, water is used for the treatment of gynecological diseases, hypertension, atherosclerosis, diseases of the joints, some diseases of the nervous system and others. Temperatures are prescribed by the physician. The water is cooled by special equipment. The baths must be done two consecutive days, followed by a day of rest. Of course, a treatment requires 12-15 procedures. The dip in the pool should be waist-high and bathing – up to the heart area. Not far from the spa center there are two open swimming pools with mineral water from the hot springs in Kamenica.

This mineral water source has a hydrogen sulfur content, but in small amounts, they are useful for muscles and joint diseases such as arthritis, tendinitis and others. It is also recommended in cases of fractures, sprains and for a fast recovery. Hydrogen sulfur-containing mineral water can be applied in inflammatory gynecological diseases.
