Description
The first evidence of a public bath here is from 1912. In the book “Chepino 1912-1942” Joseph Kovachev described that between the localities of Kamenitza and Ladzene there is a natural source of mineral water, on which have been constructed sheds Of wood, as a public bath.
In 1934, by the initiative of the Mayor of the village Ladzhene, began the construction of a modern mineral bath with two compartments – for men and women and with two swimming pools. Both bath compartments have been separated from each other by means of a three-meter screen. The bottoms of the pools were located immediately above the natural source, with sand and mud. And from here comes the name – “THE MUD BATH”. It was opened in 1937.
The mineral water of the “MUD BATH” comes from deep in the earth and is hyper, slightly mineralized – 1 g / L. The water characteristics are sodium silicate and hydro-silicon. The temperature of the spring is T = 84 C, but inside the bath is 39 C. The temperature is adjustable and is prescribed by the doctor. The water has a pH – 8.3 and total of the mineralization -. 551 mgr / L. It contains some trace elements such as tungsten, gallium, lithium, arsenic and others. For the healing process the most important is the presence of fluorine and metasilic acid. The water is not drinkable, it is used only for treatments with baths. It is used for the treatment of rheumatic, dermatological and gynecological diseases, diseases of the peripheral nervous system and others, always with the medical prescription. When using the pools immersion procedures are performed for 5-20 minutes, and the heart area in the bathtubs is out of the water. The procedures continue from 5 to 20 minutes.
