DAM LAKE SHIROKA POLYANA

The dam is located in the Western Ródopes, 30 km from Batak, 46 km from the town of Péshtera and 20 km from Dospat. Its altitude is 1500 m above sea level, situated in a pine forest. There are many legends about Shiroka polyana. The shape of the deposit is unique. Seen from the surrounding road it seems to be composed of many small deposits with separate dikes. The illusion is caused by the uneven ground of the background, which consists of several mountain ravines.
