Description
It is a biosphere reserve of international importance, under the patronage of UNESCO, approved with Order № 960 of June 8, 1968, by the Ministry of Forests. Its total area is 10,692 hectares. It has been proclaimed Biosphere Reserve on January 1, 1977. In the state registry of protected natural sites is included under № 66. Here grow more than 700 species of shrubs and trees. Mantaritsa is the abode of the grouse. The forested area is 97.7%, covered by thick secular forests.
