Description
An illuminated Christian Cross, 22 meters high, was erected in Velingrad, not far from the place of death of the patron of the town, Vela Peeva. The Christian symbol was built up entirely with donations. The structure is made of steel tubes. It is installed on a concrete pedestal, which measures 4 by 5 meters, high 4 meters, with the shape of a truncated pyramid. The first excavation of the sanctuary was made in August 2016. For the construction of the facility almost 40,000 levs have been spent. Most of the money has been collected from more than 800 donors from the SPA Capital of the Balkans and from whole Bulgaria. The Christian symbol is the work of the building engineer Blagoy Grancharov from Velingrad. The company “Eco Hydro – 90” built up the pedestal of the cross on its own expense. Assembly, painting, delivery and installation have been made by another Pazardzhik company – “Metallica”, also on their own expense. Materials and transportation have cost about 40,000 levs. The lightning protection system with proactive action worth 1800 levs and has been installed by Ivan Tashev as a donation.
