Description
Belmeken is a dam, located at a height of 1923 m, along the river Sestrimska reka in the Rila mountain. It forms part of the waterfall “Belmeken-Sestrimo-Chairá.” It has the highest embankment dam on the Balkan peninsula.
The name of the dam means “well-known place”.
