COMMUNITY CENTER METODII DRAGGUINOV

The community center “Metodii Draginov” was founded in 1936 by a group of teachers and public figures of the town Draginovo and the town Velingrad. Initially there existed a small library that was located in the building of the Town council. The community center began to develop more activities in the 60’s. Then formed several creative groups: amateur theater, male singing group, ensemble for folk dances and others.

Now the community center has a modern building with all the necessary facilities for the development of culture, educational and information activities: a concert hall, a rich library, information center, ethnographic museum, clubs and schools.

The activities of the community center are related to the conservation, development and promotion of local traditions and the development of forklore culture; Information updates and much more. Here they work successfully The folkloric ensemble “Draginovo”, The male singing group, The amateur schools for dance, singing and folk instruments and The theater group.

Over the years the community center has won a number of national and international awards for folk art festivals; among them:

• Folklore Prize – Zywiec 2002
• European Prize for Folklore “Golden Ax” -Zakopane 2003

The community center has participated in numerous festivals and tours in France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Croatia, Turkey and many others.

Along with the traditional activities the cultural center is a modern information center with library and internet. He participates actively in the public life of Draginovo – in the development of culture and education, tourism and other activities.
